| Republic Polytechnic will be organizing a 3 days 5-on-5 basketball competition on 7th - 9th December 2006 in Republic Polytechnic. This competition will be known as "The B.I.G 15 Game Basketball Championship", where B.I.G is the acronym for Basketball is Great! This competition is the 2nd series of the nationwide basketball competition that RP will be organizing. Based on past experiences, we are anticipating an estimate of about 70 participating teams with an expected turnout of 700 participants and spectators. Our 1st competition series was held in February 2005 when a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) in the promotion of basketball for youths. The 2005 event saw an unexpected 738 participants vying for the top honours of being the crowned the Champion of the inaugural BIG Game. This year, we have plans to organize the event with a BIGGER bang and fully promote the game of basketball to youths in Singapore. | The Technical Committee of The Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) would like to invite all interested individuals to enroll in the Referee Course. You will learn the rules and know how to officiate basketball games. Upon completion of the Referee Course you will be given opportunities to officiate in high-level local basketball games. In addition, you may be selected to attend the FIBA Referee Clinic and upon successful completion, you will also be given opportunities to officiate in overseas basketball games. | A 2nd Coaches Sharing Session will be organised on Sat 8th Jul 06 from 9:30am - 12:30pm, at the Singapore Basketball Centre. This round, coaches from the Australian Defence Force will be present to share their experience, followed by the 5th sparring game between the ADF Women's Team vs Singapore National Women's Team at 2:00pm, and the ADF Men's Team vs Singapore National Men's Team at 4:00pm. Admission is free! So come on down!
